Mazda to reveal sports auto concept at Tokyo Motor show
This will be Mazda’s newest sports vehicle concept model, with a design described as “modern, but maintains a sense of lineage and authenticity, appearing nearly to condense Mazda’s entire history of sports auto development into a single model”.

It’s no coincidence that Mazda will also be displaying a 1967 Cosmo Sport 110S on its stand – the first mass-produced rotary-engined Mazda.
Rumours are already rife about what will be powering the new sports vehicle, with powertrain engineer Florian Callies telling us in 2014 there’s “still enthusiam for rotary tech at Mazda”.
Mazda announced to hold the world premiere of its new sports auto concept model at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
All we have to go on so far is this subtle teaser image.
A rebirth has been the subject of incessant speculation. It comes at a time when rumors of their return to rotary-engined sports cars are rife. For years, there have been rumors that Mazda was secretly working on a successor to the RX-7 and RX-8. As a small company, it couldn’t afford to venture into too many segments. The new concept suggests Mazda is contemplating the next step.

The teaser photo shows a sleek black auto with a long nose, RX-7-ish rear-slung cockpit and plenty of rounded muscularity in its shape, speaking the Kodo design language, much like the sexy new MX-5. We’ll have images of the concept from the floor of the Tokyo show when it opens to the media on October 28 and 29.
