Maze Runner filming to restart… but not until February

Back in March, O’Brien suffered injuries to his face while filming The Death Cure, forcing Fox and director Wes Ball to delay production until May. Originally, it was slated for release on February 17, 2017 but has been pushed back nearly a year to January 12, 2018.

Deadline now reports that production on The Death Cure will resume in February 2017 – which is when the sequel was originally set to hit theaters. Earlier this year, production on the film was halted when star Dylan O’Brien suffered a significant on-set injury and the future of the franchise was left in question, with the actor needing time to heal and the studio needing time to sort out the new schedule.

O’Brien’s co-star Dexter Darden told TMZ the actor’s injuries were the result of doing his own stunt work.

Dylan’s accident took place in Vancouver, Canada, when he fell from the roof of a moving vehicle that he was strapped and fractured either his cheekbone or orbital socket.

Speculations that the movie will start rolling again started swirling after O’Brien was spotted for the first time in public after the accident in early August. The film should now hit the big screen January 12, 2018.

Dylan will also be kept busy with a role in Michael Cuesta’s new flick American Assassin. The script by T.S. Nowlin was adapted from one of the series of the popular books by James Dashner.
