Jobi McAnuff pulled one of those back in the 48th minute, after which the game became a battle of goalkeepers, with Jamaica’s Dwayne Miller turning away three shots on goal while Navas’ replacement, Esteban Alvarado, preserved the draw with a leaping save on Jamaica’s Simon Dawkins in the final minutes. He also stated that the team was lucky it didn’t get further sanctions, which would have “affected football development in Jamaica for years to come”, but acknowledged the tough postion the players were in.

Costa Rica vs Jamaica 2015 (start time 5 pm PST) is the big west coast debut of the Gold Cup.

– Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports/Reuters picsCARSON, California, July 9 – Joel McAnuff’s second-half goal earned Jamaica a surprise 2-2 draw with Costa Rica, while Canada and El Salvador finished scoreless in Group B of the CONCACAF Gold Cup yesterday. “We usually get a good turnout with the fans so hopefully it is a pro Canada atmosphere”, said Ledgerwood, laughing as he estimated there were 10 Canadian fans at the El Salvador match.

Irvin Herrera – a tenth minute substitute for the injured Nelson Bonilla – proved a handful, but neither he, nor his teammates could find the back of the net. Moments later, Stamatopoulos misplayed a punch-out, but he recovered to block Irvin Herrera’s close-range shot. Granted, that does not offer much comfort as both times Canada was seen as favourites and most would expect three points against the weakest opponent in the group.

It should have been better for Benito Floro’s men, but Orlando City striker Cyle Larin blazed over the crossbar with the goal gaping having rounded the goalkeeper.

Wanchope, a former center forward for Costa Rica, is still searching for his first win as head coach. Marcus Haber had a chance late on that Carrillo collected, and most other chances were taken from outside the 18.

The Central Americans made full use of the opening to equalise, crafting a cleverly worked free-kick when Ruiz played a diagonal grounded pass to David Ramirez on the right side of the penalty area. Dynamo Theory will be live for the second round of matches, taking place on Saturday, July 11th at BBVA Compass Stadium.
