McAuliffe: Clinton would flip-flop on TPP
Meanwhile a suggestion from Virginia’s governor, Terry McAuliffe was swiftly repudiated after stating that the presidential nominee for the party, Hillary Clinton would likely make some tweaks to support TPP when she becomes president.

The only member of Wisconsin’s Democratic congressional delegation to support the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement was shouted down by protesters during a speech Wednesday morning, and was then forced to end an interview with reporters amid yelling from members of the state delegation who vociferously oppose the deal.
The Trans-Pacific Partnership has been a political hot button for Clinton through her entire campaign.
Trump broke with Republican orthodoxy in attacking trade deals from the North American Free Trade Agreement to the TPP.
“We’re going to apply pressure and anyone who supports (the trade deal), we’re going to hold their feet to the fire”, he said. Oregon Democrat Jeff Merkley was the only member of the Senate to endorse Sanders for president and says that even if Oregon does well in global trade, that’s not enough.
For some, McAuliffe’s comments exacerbated emotions and confirmed fears, threatening to further alienate the constituencies Clinton needs to defeat Trump. But let’s break down what’s happened over the past 24 hours.
In fact, if you want to find something presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump agree on, they oppose the trade deal, believing it will hurt American workers.
Open mouth, insert foot. Clinton has shown the past few weeks that she is open to change by openly endorsing some of her former rival Bernie Sanders’ platforms.
Even before McAuliffe’s comments, Bernie backers doubted the sincerity of Clinton’s anti-TPP position.

“Love Gov. McAuliffe, but he got this one flat wrong”, Podesta tweeted. “There were specific things in it she wanted fixed”. In 2007, during her first run for the presidency, Clinton called NAFTA, which her husband signed, “a mistake to the extent that it did not deliver on what we had hoped it would”. Essentially, that means the USA and Japan have to approve it or else it won’t go forward. “Since we’re having a conversation about revisiting it, I’ve got the two things that I’m aware of that I when I look at it, I think these are stinkers”. So we support trade overall, but she’s never changed her position in a sense. “I’ve personally talked to Hillary on this and so has the [United Auto Workers’] Dennis Williams”. Tim Kaine of Virginia, who he incorrectly said was from New Jersey, is one of TPP’s biggest proponents and that McAuliffe’s Tuesday statement to Politico was extremely telling because no one knows her better. It doesn’t meet her criteria. They claim the deal puts the interests of rich, multi-national corporations before those of American workers. Overall, Goto thinks the TPP would benefit the USA economy.
