McCain condemns Trump for anti-Muslim statements

Khan’s father spoke out against Trump last week at the Democratic National Convention, and Trump questioned whether Khan’s mother, who stood quietly next to her husband, had been allowed to speak.

Ellison said Trump’s campaign appealed to Republican leaders on Capitol Hill for support Monday as his comments on the Muslim parents of an American soldier killed in Iraq drew increased criticism from both parties.

Ghazala Khan did not speak during the DNC because she said she was too emotional at the time.

Meanwhile, many fellow Republicans didn’t have the luxury of avoiding Trump’s comments, which provoked a strong negative reaction among veterans groups that are typically aligned with the GOP.

At last week’s convention, Khizr Khan criticised Trump for proposing to freeze the entry of foreign Muslims into the U.S. and accused him of making no sacrifices for his country.

Meanwhile, outside Trump Towers in NY, protesters said the comments about the Khan family were part of a wider attack. Kahn’s son, 27-year-old Army captain Humayun Khan, was killed by a suicide bomber in Iraq in 2004.

“I can not emphasize enough how deeply I disagree with Mr. Trump’s statement”, McCain added. Khizr Khan criticized Trump’s position on Muslims and asked whether the real estate mogul had read the Constitution. I work very, very hard.

Christie said, “I didn’t see Mr Khan’s speech at the DNC but I’ll just say this – I’m a father and I can not imagine the pain of losing a child under any circumstances. We honor those who wear the uniform, are grateful for their bravery, and celebrate their diversity”, she said.

Trump broke a political and societal taboo over the weekend when he criticized Khizr and Ghazala Khan. With his despicable attacks on a Gold Star family, we now know he is a cruel and cowardly man, as well.

“The Clinton machine. they don’t care who they use, they just them”, he said.

Several veterans’ organizations have since called for Trump to apologize to the Kahn family. “They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people”. Captain Khan died in battle trying valiantly to save others …
