McCarthy: No shutdown over Planned Parenthood

With lawmakers returning to the Capitol for the first time since Friday’s killing of three people at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the Senate’s top Democrat called on House Republicans to abandon their investigation of the group, which he called politically motivated.

While Obama would be expected to veto the reconciliation bill, handling the Planned Parenthood issue in this way could isolate it from the must-pass government spending bill and minimize the chances of a shutdown. As the deadline nears, House and Senate negotiators hope to reach a compromise soon, although McCarthy suggested lawmakers could use one extra week until December 18.

In August, Bentley sent a letter to Planned Parenthood Southeast terminating its contracts as an Alabama Medicaid provider.

Planned Parenthood Southeast said it does not harvest organs or obtain reimbursement, an announcement the Bentley administration calls “concessions in an ongoing lawsuit…”

“It’s time for us to take down this committee and take down the vitriolic comments”, she said. Monday “Whipping people into a frenzy of hate and anger while providing easy access to firearms has proven disastrous to our country”.

The Republican contender did acknowledge that the shooting was an act of “domestic terrorism”, and that the actions of the gunman were “absolutely abominable, especially to those of us in the pro-life movement, because there’s nothing about any of us that would condone or in any way look the other way at something like this”.

“I see a lot of anxiety and I see a lot of dislike for Planned Parenthood, there’s no question about that”, Trump said.

“I think it’s unfair to hold Paul Ryan accountable for this particular omnibus”. “It would be like saying we have complaints about education reform in America so there are school shootings. And to connect those two is total irresponsible behavior”.

The latest legal battle between Texas state officials and Planned Parenthood now officially has a start date: December 14.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who is rising in the national presidential polls, is another matter. Mike Lee or Utah.

– At the opposite end of the GOP’s anti-abortion campaign is the wildly unpredictable Donald Trump, who has defended Planned Parenthood and said the group should be funded. “This is so typical of the left, to immediately begin demonizing the messenger because they don’t agree with the message”, Fiorina said Sunday.

Debate on reconciliation is set to begin formally Wednesday and conclude Thursday, per several aides and senators.

The full Planned Parenthood Select Committee has yet to meet and is now in the process of hiring staff, said Rep. Diane Black, a Republican member appointed to the committee, in an interview.

While he tamped down talk of a shutdown, McCarthy said there would be no shortage of votes on policy amendments to the spending bill, though he declined to identify what those riders might be.

“This individual, this shooting, the thing that drove him most was he was a very evil, insane man”, McCarthy said. Budget watchdogs say tapping into Federal Reserve surpluses is nothing more than a $59 billion gimmick and that the highway bill will actually add that figure to the government’s nearly $19 trillion debt.
