McCarthy trusts Aaron Rodgers to lead a turnaround
I was watching the NFL Network last Sunday morning, and all five of their experts had Green Bay winning the game. This is a game that the Packers need desperately.

The Green Bay Packers will host the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field in NFL Week 3 action on Sunday afternoon. As we discussed in this segment last week, despite the presence of Smug Master #12 at the helm the Packers have not been almost as effective in the area of passing as your brain would think they have been. “Any time you get to be part of a great play like that, it’s pretty exciting”.
They have endured watching a stunning slide unfold going as far back as the crushing overtime loss at the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game January 18, 2015, when Rodgers completed only 19 of 34 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions for a dismal passer rating of 55.8. At other times, he’s simply thrown the ball inaccurately. The Packers’ offense needs to move the ball better and generate more first downs, while the defense and special-teams need to find ways to change field position.
My top pick this week is Green Bay (minus-7) for $500.
In addition to not scoring, Green Bay wound up turning the ball over twice on those five series. Bradford was utilizing Diggs as much as possible the 2nd year man had a career night ended up with 182 receiving yards and a score.
As for the Packers, they suffered a somewhat shocking defeat in Week 2 as well. Minnesota haven’t becoming what the packers have been but they are getting to that level in due to time you can see some of those things start to develop even without Teddy they have been able to out play Green Bay.
“There’s a great deal of respect and trust between us and that’s the way it’s gotta be”.
After a long third quarter drive, McCarthy opted to keep his offense on the field for a fourth and two situation that would’ve otherwise been a short, high-percentage field goal. Running back Eddie Lacy ranked third.
In fact, when the Packers quarterback was asked Wednesday afternoon, during a more-crowded-than-usual, standing-room-only session with reporters in front of his locker, whether his fundamentals needed a tuneup, he had his response ready. No timetable for his return was given.
This is where we gather to watch and discuss one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League right now, if not all time. I hope he can come back strong I hope this isn’t the end of Adrian All Day Peterson.
While Green Bay works to ramp up its rushing attack, it’s still looking to establish rhythm with Rodgers and the rest of the passing offense, which has been held to 379 yards in the first two games.
Matthew Stafford and the Lions’ offense is going to have their hands full with the Green Bay defense. Unlike the Vikings, however, that was enough to lose the game. Instead, Rodgers generally looked rattled and indecisive, which is not something often said about the two-time MVP. Now this might sound a bit like the pot calling the kettle black considering the 13 penalties (for 137 yards) committed by the Vikings Sunday night, but it was even a little worse for the Lions.
The Minnesota Vikings now sit atop the NFC North Standings.
While I’m sure these numbers will be changing weekly, the Vikings/Panthers game is now rated a “60” on playoffstatus.com’s Most Important Games list, tops in the NFC (there’s now a tie for second place with both the Packers/Lions game and the Buccs/Rams game getting 47’s) and second only to the Texans/Patriots game on Thursday.
