McConnell calls GOP Senate chances ‘very dicey’
Setting aside the wackiness of the Senate math, it’s perhaps only moderately weird that a candidate for a state legislative office would hold both major party lines for an election. Making the task tougher for the GOP: Republicans are defending 24 seats, compared with 10 for the Democrats.

Republican Party incumbents may hold the advantage in House races, as is normal for incumbents running for election, but Democratic challengers are putting up high numbers. One recent example came in 2008, when Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who also is Orthodox and represents the same heavily Orthodox Borough Park neighborhood as Felder, ran on both lines and cruised to re-election.
Trump is responding to a Time magazine story that said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus had told Trump he’d shift resources unless Trump’s poll numbers improved, after Trump at first declined to endorse the Republican primary bid of House Speaker Paul Ryan in his Wisconsin district.
“Simcha Felder is a superb state Senator, and he’s an important voice in a chamber that continues to put progress over partisanship”, Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan (R-Suffolk) said in the release.
When asked by a reporter about Trump’s comments labeling President Barack Obama as the “founder” of the Islamic State group, McConnell replied: “I’m hoping that we can make this election about Hillary Clinton”.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the Republican Party announced its endorsement of Felder on August 10. There are now 31 GOP senators.
Democrats, though, are hoping to win the majority by focusing on key races in western NY and Long Island. The Democratic average, meanwhile, is almost double the average amount the party’s open seat candidates raised from 2004 through 2014. He said fellow Republicans are “getting used to” the money he’s raising. Trump said he doesn’t want those Republicans’ support. “Unlike what’s happening in Washington, D.C., it’s something we endeavor to do every single day in the New York State Senate”.

State Sen. Simcha Felder’s name should be easy to find on the ballot in the November 8 election.
