The San Diego Chargers took a beating against the Oakland Raiders Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium.

Cornerback DJ Hayden, who had his first interception of the season, was essentially given a vote of confidence during the week by defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr., who noted Hayden’s improved play. Latavius Murray scored on a 1-yard run two plays later. The Raiders entered their matchup with the Chargers ranked 27th in rushing, and they wasted no time showing they could be better than that.
A spokesman for Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Monday the city was not surprised by news that the Chargers will apply to move to the Los Angeles area, but said the city will continue to work with the National Football League to keep the team in San Diego.
Oakland’s Malcolm Smith intercepted a tipped pass on the game’s third play and returned to the San Diego 2.

Whether or not they’d be a good fit is a whole different story.
Boldin had 592 receiving yards and two touchdowns through his first six career games, while Moss had 527 yards and six touchdowns in his. Allen caught nine passes for 89 yards. The Raiders, meanwhile, went the entire first half without punting once, the first time they’ve managed that feat since returning to Oakland from LA in 1995. Rookie receiver Amari Cooper shook loose for 133 yards on five catches, including a short pass toward the end of the second quarter that Cooper turned into a 52-yard touchdown, making Chargers defenders look like the Washington Generals.
This was a great victory that was a lot of fun for Raider Nation to watch, but it should have been a blowout win and not just an 8 point difference. It’s pathetic. That first half was pathetic.
Apparently spooked by St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke’s intended move to Inglewood, Chargers chairman Dean Spanos and Raiders owner Mark Davis hopped into the proverbial SoCal hot tub together. “I think the read just took it away from him on a few occasions, but certainly there are opportunities to make sure the guy stays involved and we’ll look to make sure that happens”.

Pretty much everyone in the locker room said the Chargers simply failed to execute their plays as well as the Raiders executed their plays. “Mental errors, breakdowns in our defense, not playing smart, sound football, maybe relaxing there at the end”.

“If we linger on this game (against the Patriots) we’re going to get beat”, Bowles said Monday at his weekly press conference. There are intriguing pieces at linebacker and in the secondary, but the team needs to play better as a whole.
