Earlier in the day, the Delhi Cabinet passed a resolution requesting Jung to direct the Delhi Development Authority to pay Rs 1,575 crore dues to the MCDs to help them pay salaries to their employees.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Sunday held an emergency meeting at his residence where he met the North and East MCD Commissioners to discuss the ongoing crisis.
“We are cleaning the garbage, this is not a photo op”.
The employees at headquarters of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) at Civic Centre also boycotted work.
While Sisodia cleaned up garbage in his assembly constituency Patparganj in east Delhi, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra swept streets in the city’s Karawal Nagar. He said the government is looking for a “permanent solution” to the problem.
Employees of three civic bodies here on Friday announced to extend their strike for an indefinite time period against the Delhi government over the non-payment of dues, while the AAP government termed the entire sequence of events “an indication towards a massive salary scam”. “Leaders of the civic bodies are telling a lie and are getting the garbage dumped outside my (camp office)”, he said.
What should we do if we don’t get paid?, ” a protestor told media here. He said that if the government has to provide more money to the corporations, it would be unable to pay salaries to its employees, including Delhi government doctors and teachers. “Hence, we have undertaken the cleanliness drive”, Sisodia said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said the salaries of MCD staff should be released immediately.

Close to completing his first year in top party post, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken claims that over the months his party has grown into the main opposition party – a fact, he claims, is acknowledged even by BJP leaders. The AAP government has maintained that it has released the money which is due but alleged misappropriation of money by the BJP-ruled municipal bodies.
