McDonald’s Happy Meal to come with wearables
And while some may wonder what a fitness tracker and fast-food have in common, the step-it is in line with McDonald’s move to push back at critics who’ve painted the business as pushing junk food to kids.

The “Step-It” will measure steps and blink lights indicating the child’s activity level. The device is more appropriate for kids, and its colorful design is living proof, and so is the fact that it replaces the traditional toy offered with a Happy Meal. Taking this transformation one step further, McDonald’s Canada has bundled in a step tracker into its latest Happy Meal. They come in six different colours and will be included in every Happy Meal sold in the U.S. and Canada. The activity tracker, which goes around your wrist, was inspired by other fitness trackers, like FitBit.
You might want to be up and about after you’ve had a fast food meal as they are not often the healthiest of choices but we’ll have them anyway.
However, Fort Smith, AR, mom, Casey Collyar said her son 4-year old son had a burn mark after letting him wear the Happy Meal toy for just eight minutes on Saturday.

“Step-it is in line with McDonald’s general philosophy for Happy Meal toys, which is to make toys that encourage either physical or imagination-based play”, McDonald’s Canada Senior Marketing Manager, Michelle McIImoyle, told CityNews. The toy will be available at all restaurants across Canada and the USA for the next four weeks.
