We reported just yesterday of Pokemon Go heading to Japan for a launch release date set for today, Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

Japan delivered $6.2 billion in revenues to mobile game companies a year ago, the second-highest behind only China, at $6.5 billion. According to CNN, smartphone accessory maker Zagg has recently acquired battery case manufacturer mophie before Pokemon Go was released.

McDonald’s Japan, which will become Nintendo’s first official partner when the game launches in the country, has also seen a sharp rise in its share price. But they’re about to get a thousand times busier thanks to crazed Pokemon Go players.

Since its global launch two weeks ago, Pokemon Go has sparked a worldwide frenzy among users who have taken to the streets with their smartphones in a bid to capture and train the creatures for battles. Unfortunately, the game is not yet available in Nigeria and the rest of Africa but is available in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Shares of McDonald’s Japan are up 16 percent this week, lifted by speculation that the chain would be involved in the release of Pokemon.

McDonald’s Japan said on Wednesday that it planned to collaborate on the game “soon”.

Niantic CEO John Hanke told Reuters on Friday the developers were being extra-cautious in Japan, given the level of expectation and sheer number of players.

Pokemon Go has just overtaken Sony, as it continued to boost Nintendo’s market value in a very steep climb towards a surprising finish.

It’s not known yet exactly how much revenue from Pokemon Go ultimately trickles into Nintendo’s pockets, but seeing how quickly the game has hooked its claws into the masses, investors are tripping over themselves to buy shares of Nintendo.
