McGregor, Aldo make weight for title fight at UFC 194

With the featherweight title still yet to be decided between Aldo and McGregor, the UFC was already looking to lock away the champion’s next title defence.

The UFC fans all over the world were shocked to the core as the much hyped Conor McGregor vs. Jose Aldo match ended in a first round KO.

After the bout, which headlined UFC 194 inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena, McGregor expressed sympathy for Aldo regarding the brevity of the fight, but insisted his victory was all but inevitable. According to previously reported figures, once an event gets over 100,000 buys each fighter earns $1 from every purchase but that rises to $3 when that hits 500,000 buys – as UFC 194 nearly certainly will.

“He’s a phenomenal champion”, McGregor exclaimed.

Conor McGregor predicted that nobody could handle his left-hand. Once on the ground, McGregor was able to seal the deal with two hammer punches.

McGregor and his theatrics have promised to move up to lightweight after this fight.

I said his right hand would get him into trouble. “There is no doubt now”.

The 28-year-old had never tasted defeat in the UFC and rode an 18-fight winning streak that dates back to 2006. He envisioned his victory and was ready for Aldo from the opening bell.

In what might be the best card in history, the middleweight title is also up for grabs when Chris Weidman defends his crown against Luke Rockhold.

But on Saturday night at UFC 194, it was time – finally – to put all that entertaining nonsense into the archives and see if McGregor could become the first man in more than 10 years to beat Aldo. I still feel, at the end of the day, precision beats power, timing beats speed.

The UFC 194 early preliminaries have a start time of 7pm EST / 4pm PST, and will be televised on UFC Fight Pass. Watch these UFC 194 early prelims via live streaming at the official UFC website as well.

The atmosphere was intense as always as McGregor made the cut at 145lbs, the same weight as rival Aldo. These two were originally supposed to meet at that event, but Aldo had to pull out due to a rib injury. He also says a rematch is necessary since there was no real fight to speak of. Aldo brings debilitating leg kicks that have stopped opponents on more than one occasion. “I don’t really care how I win”. Just precision. No speed.

“It’s hard to take this all in”, Rockhold said.

‘It didn’t effect me at all, he said.

Weidman had ruled atop the division since dethroning long-reigning champ Anderson Silva in 2013 and breaking Silva’s leg in the rematch.
