McGregor knocks out Aldo in just 13 seconds at UFC 194

In the main event, Conor McGregor proved wrong in his prediction, needing just 13 seconds to defeat Jose Aldo and unify the UFC featherweight titles.

That’s the shortest knockout in UFC championship history. “I see him over reacting, over extending and then being KO’d unconscious”.

He said: “Jose has been a phenomonal champion, my respect to Jose, I wish him well, and it’s on to the next chapter”. McGregor added that precision beats power every single time.

Aldo (25-2-0) had won his last 18 fights and not lost since November 2005. McGregor, who began promoting the faceoff in January when he jumped out of the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 59 to confront Aldo in the audience, will suffer a great blow to his ego if he gets beat by Aldo.

McGregor picked one of the UFC’s most daunting targets in Aldo, who had made seven consecutive title defenses.

After headlining his first UFC show in July 2014 with a win over Diego Brandao, (The Notorious) Conor McGregor delighted his hometown fans in Dublin by saying: “We’re not here to take part, we’re here to take over”.

Aldo told Joe Rogan that it wasn’t much of a fight and said he would like a rematch.

White revealed that Frankie Edgar is getting the next title shot.

Belfort was one of just two fighters to have beaten Rockhold in mixed martial arts, having done so halfway through the first round of their bout back in May, 2013. The end came soon after.

After both Aldo and McGregor had weighed in, the Brazilian took a page out of McGregor’s book and taunted the Irishman with a wide stance and karate-chop-ready hand.

UFC 194 live this Saturday night is the second straight MMA main event that could produce an epic fight. When referee Herb Dean finally pulled Rockhold off the bloodied Weidman (13-1), the new champion collapsed face-down on the canvas in relief.
