McGregor’s future is the subject of furious speculation after the Irishman announced his retirement on Twitter on Monday.

A story on UFC’s official website said: “McGregor informed UFC officials that he would not participate in any promotional activities, including a commercial shoot and press conferences”.
They tweeted: “Alternatively, #TheNotoriousMMA is welcome to come work for us at Power Tower”. Thanks for the cheese.
“And we’re working on other fights right now. He’s in Iceland training, and it’s not possible”.
UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes there is only one reason as to why McGregor would call it quits.
Remember, Conor McGregor regularly draws over 1 million PPV buys.
UFC President Dana White broke the news Tuesday night during an appearance on SportsCenter. “But you can’t decide to not show up to these things”.
Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar are scheduled to fight for the interim featherweight title at UFC 200 as well.
Some think McGregor’s tweet may have been prompted by a row with White.
McGregor was due to fight Stockton’s Nate Diaz in a welterweight rematch after Diaz won their March 5 fight by second-round submission.
Conor McGregor is off of the UFC 200 card.
White couldn’t speculate whether or not McGregor was serious about his retirement and said he would leave that decision up to the current featherweight champion.
“It is such a rare occurrence that I don’t know how to take this”, he wrote.
McGregor’s tweet was posted one week after Joao Carvalho died from injuries suffered during a fight earlier this month that McGregor attended.

In an interview with ESPN, White attempted to clarify the situation regarding McGregor’s duty to promote UFC 200 in Las Vegas.
