If play doesn’t finish until Monday it would be the second consecutive PGA Championship at Baltusrol to meet that fate.

Summerhays played two holes Saturday, bogeying the first and eagling the second to stand at 4-under par for the tournament in a tie for 10th, five shots out of the lead. He finished at 14-under 266, and one shot ahead of Jason Day, who was the defending champion.

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. (AP) – The PGA Championship was halted by thunderstorms Saturday that raised the possibility of a third straight Monday finish in a major at Baltusrol.
The last time Mickelson won a major – or any other PGA Tour event – was the 2013 Open Championship.
Couple that with the softened fairways and greens, and metropolitan golf fans, as well as those watching the world over, could bear witness to some of the most exciting golf ever played at a major championship as the 98th PGA comes to a close.
“I thought that as I had put in a lot of work the previous year, I was excited about where my game was at and I’ve been shooting some really low scores this past week or two, not just from the British, but from there to here”, Mickelson said after shooting a 2-under 68 in Saturday’s third round to move to 1-under overall before play was suspended because of rain.
Watson finished right where he started Saturday: even par. He began the back nine by holing a 45-foot bunker shot on No. 10 and making a 30-foot birdie putt on No. 11.
Golf has the No. 62 in major championships.
Play will resume at 7 a.m.to complete the third round with the final round of the year’s final major to follow.
Walker and Day were playing with occasional mud on their golf balls on the back nine of the third round Sunday morning as some players behind them were able to lift, clean and place their golf balls in short grass in the fourth round. None of the leaders got a chance to tee off. The best rounds of the day belonged to Padraig Harrington and Kevin Kisner who both shot 65.
The leaders – Jimmy Walker and Robert Streb are set to tee off at 2:55 p.m.
That ambitious plan would rely on no further weather stoppages.
Mickelson was riding high entering golf’s final major of the season because he had been playing extremely well of late. He could be in contention heading into the final round with wind and rain in the forecast over the weekend.

“The lead came back the last time we were here (for the 2005 PGA Championship), Sunday proved to be very hard, you never know what’s going to win”.
