McIlroy wins Deutchse Bank Championship
Rory McIlroy ended a 16-month title drought on the PGA Tour with a brilliant last-day charge as he won the Deutsche Bank Championship by two shots on Monday in Norton, Massachusetts.

Paul Casey started the final round with a three-shot lead but could only manage a 2-over 73 that left him in second place, two shots back. Someone that says to me you’re in the gym too much.
“I don’t know if any criticism is unfair”, McIlroy said in quotes reported by Sky Sports. “I think when people make judgments or criticisms without being educated on the subject … like me getting in the gym, for example”.
“The reason I play at such a high level, and hopefully will continue to play at a high level for the next 10 to 15 years, is because of the work I do in the gym”.
“It’s amusing, four years on, and I win here and going back to Indy where I have great memories from four years ago”. And if banging around in the gym is what he feels is best, who am I to argue? “I’m really excited going into the last part of the season”.
“He gets criticised a lot, everything’s analysed, but he’s very patient I think with it all”. I played some great golf and holed some great putts this week. That would be a tidy sum to have in his back pocket before the start of the Ryder Cup the following week. “I found something”, he said.
“This was obviously the biggest of those three but I knew my game was in good shape, I just needed to do something with the putting. It’s definitely not the finished article, but it’s a big step in the right direction.” he added.
“Things can turn around quickly in this game and they did for me this week”.
History is now on McIlroy’s side.

The Northern Irishman’s victory elevated him from 38th to fourth in the FedExCup standings heading into the BMW Championship this week and the world number three is hungry for more success in what has been an underwhelming year. They don’t know what they’re talking about, says the 26-year-old. “There’s a lot that can happen – and I sort of proved that to myself this week”.
