McLaren MP4-X offers glimpse at possible future of F1

However, it has simply turned everyone bonkers with its new MP4-X supercar, released on Thursday, The Verge reported.

It’s no secret that McLaren had a disastrous Formula One season this year. The vehicle is enabled to be operated entirely through the driver’s brain patterns.

Not only that, it can communicate with the driver if there is a problem or some sort of mechanical failure and will be powered by “alternative power sources”, referring to a greater focus on electrical energy regeneration wasted when braking and solar panels.

The McLaren MP4-X is what the team sees as the “F1 vehicle of the future”, and it’s certainly an unusual-looking contraption. Perhaps McLaren sees a day where rather than hitting a huge number of switches on the steering wheel to control the cars functionality, the driver simply thinks what he wants to do and the auto does it.

The driver’s body is closely monitored by biotelemetry, while new advanced fabric race suits are capable of showing paramedics and early responders where the driver is injured.

Its jet-like canopy will keep all the hazardous elements and unsafe flying objects at bay for the driver.

Jenson Button’s reaction was more to the point. Let us know in the comments.

The second bold “concept” to be revealed by an F1 team after Ferrari did something similar in Februrary, McLaren’s John Allert days the design study represents what can be possible with a radical of the sport. Jim Newton, Market Development Director at McLaren Applied Technologies (MAT) remarked; “Clearly all the things we have highlighted on the vehicle are not fully resolved solutions today, but this wasn’t the brief – it was to look beyond into a possible future”.
