Right next to it will be a carbon fibre version of the McLaren P1 created by the brand’s Special Operations (MSO) division.

McLaren is preparing to stage its largest motor show exhibit ever at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

Have a click through the gallery above – both cars will be on display at Geneva, alongside the 650S GT3 vehicle, and an as-yet unnamed addition to the firm’s Sports Series range.

Just 375 of the British-built McLaren P1 hypercar were built (the road-legal version, not the P1 GTR track-only special), each one costing from £866,000 before any customisation or extras.

Only 500 examples of the regular 675LT Spider will be made, all of which have already been sold. A customer-commissioned visual carbon P1 will be joined by a carbon-themed 675LT Spider.

If every vehicle show has its unofficial theme, then Geneva’s is ridiculously bespoke luxury, and McLaren is bringing a pair of its own examples of automotive excess.

MSO craftspeople also outfitted the P1 with gloss-black wheels, black Alcantara seating with blue contrast stitching, and a 24-karat gold plated exhaust shield that pays homage to the iconic McLaren F1. The “Longtail” Airbrake is finished in body color on the upper surface with the lower plane shows the natural carbon fiber weave, while the aerodynamic front bumper end plates, side skirts, side intakes and rear bumper are also finished in visual carbon. The satin carbon fiber retractable hardtop and tonneau can be operated at speeds up to 25mph and saves 1kg, while the front wings include carbon fiber louvres.

Inside, the auto features black Alcantara seats with contrasting yellow stitching, and unique colour detailing. As one last hurrah, it gets a 24-karat gold plated exhaust heatshield.

Performance for the 675LT Spider by MSO remains unchanged, with the 3.8-litre twin turbo V8 engine generating 675PS (666bhp) and 700Nm (516lb ft) of torque.
