ME state senator: Censure may be in order for governor

This comes after criticism of the comments from a town hall meeting where LePage claimed ‘90%’ of the drug dealers arrested in ME came from NYC or Waterbury, Connecticut.

LePage also left a profanity-riddled voice message for Democratic Rep.

Democrats and Republicans in the state are considering what to do about an obscene tirade LePage left on the cellphone of a Democratic lawmaker and his governor’s recent remarks that blacks and Hispanics make up the majority of drug arrests in the state.

Well, okay! This temper tantrum was set off after Representative Drew Gattine suggested that it was maybe just a little bit racist for the Governor to say that in a war, you shoot the enemy; and that right now the enemy is people of color. He said he hopes legislators don’t have to censure the governor.

Thibodeau’s remarks came after Senate Minority Leader Justin Alfond of Portland and Assistant Leader Dawn Hill of Cape Neddick joined House Democrats in calling for LePage’s resignation, saying he “has displayed behavior that indicates he is not in control of himself and is unfit to carry out the serious duties of his office”.

The ongoing feud has led some Democratic leaders to call for LePage to step down from his post.

The governor has made headlines for comments about a lawmaker who’d “give it to the people without Vaseline” and minority drug dealers impregnating white ME women. Rather than apologize after the leak, LePage summoned reporters to his house and challenged Gattine to a duel, declaring: “I would not put my gun in the air”.

“I know everyone in this world wants an immediate solution, but we’re dealing with a pretty complicated [situation] here, and it’s highly charged in an election year”, Higgins said.

Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage. “This is an issue in the governor’s office, but it’s a larger issue as far as racism being acceptable”. “I guarantee you, I would not be Hamilton”. LePage said his outburst was justified because Gattine called him a racist – something Gattine denied.

While developments continue to unfold in the Pine Tree State, note that we haven’t heard much from some of the state’s most high-profile GOP figures – each of whom played a role in getting LePage elected in the first place. “We’re known for LePage and that’s a travesty”.

He repeated claims he made last week when he told State House News Service that whites from ME are responsible for methamphetamine-related crime, while out-of-state blacks and Hispanics are responsible for the heroin trade.
