Rollins finished first in 12.48 seconds, followed by Ali in 12.59 seconds and Castlin in 12.61 seconds.
Not only that, but what happened on Wednesday night amounts to the first time three US women have swept the medal stand in any Olympic event – ever.
Among the eight finalists in the event were Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali, and Kristi Castlin.
Americans go 1-2 in women’s long jump: Two-time world champion Tianna Bartoletta finally has an Olympic gold medal, winning the long jump final with a life-time best 7.17 meters.
The sweep was the first for Team USA in track and field since the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, when American men conquered the podium in the 400-meter and the 400-meter hurdles. She took off 2015 after giving birth to a son, Titus, whom she carried on a victory lap after winning the 2016 world championships in the 60.
The 24-year-old Rollins, who also won the Olympic qualifier, ran a blazing 12.48 seconds, shy of Harrison’s 12.20-second time, which broke a world record that had stood for 28 years.
