SAM Smith has unveiled his new Bond theme on Radio 1.

But while it’s one of the most wonderful moments of his career, Sam is quaking in his boots.

Smith initially denied he was the voice behind the new 007 song, but later confirmed on Instagram he was honored to join the iconic British legacy. For you, I have to risk it all / Cause the writing’s on the wall’.

Plenty of fans pre-ordered the single, and the singer thanked them by posting a teaser to Instagram.

While Petridis gives Smith credit for being, “a male singer using a Bond theme to convey vulnerability”, he doesn’t think the song is very noteworthy or memorable.

“I wanted to bring out something timelessly classic that works with the project and the film, “Smith said of the song”.

James Bond may still look like the same ol’ white guy, but as of this morning (September 25), he’s got a brand new sound.

The song, whose full version runs for four minutes and 38 seconds, begins with the words: “I’ve been here before / But always hit the floor”. Throughout the James Bond franchise, theme songs have been sung by the likes of Paul McCartney, Madonna, Carly Simon, Jack White and Alicia Keys. You can download “Writing’s on the Wall” on iTunes now.

Spectre will be released in the United Kingdom on October 26 and in the USA on November 6.

Smith had talked about the pressure he felt covering the Bond song in an interview with Mirror.
