Rocco Mediate holed out from a greenside bunker at the par-three 17th for birdie to close out a wire-to-wire victory at the Senior PGA Championship in MI on Sunday. Mediate led the entire tournament, and posted a final round score of 66 to claim victory.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Ariya Jutanugarn became the first player to win three straight LPGA Tour events in three years, closing with a 5-under 67 for a five-stroke victory in the Volvik Championship. Among the former champions, Tom Lehman (2010) shot 69, Khoki Idoki (2013), Michael Allen (2009) and Mike Reid (2005) had 70s, Roger Chapman (2012) a 71 and John Jacobs (2003) a 75. John Daly had a very John Daly moment on Thursday at the Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in MI. I didn’t really make a long one. The 52-year-old Scot won in 2014 at Harbor Shores and last year at French Lick in Indiana. I just didn’t hole enough putts.

Hend started the day tied for the lead with Willett at 10 under and ended it at 9 under with a one-stroke advantage over Englishman Tyrrell Hatton, who shot the lowest round of the day, a 66.

During his heyday in the early 1990s, Daly won four times on the PGA Tour, notably an improbable victory in the 1991 PGA Championship at Crooked Stick, which he entered as ninth alternate.

Club pro John DalCorobbo also was 9 under after a 68.

“I made more putts today and I hit my irons a little closer”, Langer said. “They’re just great guys”.

The 58-year-old German won the Regions Tradition last week in Alabama for his sixth senior major title and 100th worldwide victory. Jutanugarn doesn’t plan to play the next event in New Jersey, where she would have had a shot to become the first since Lorena Ochoa in 2008 to win four scheduled tournaments in a row.

John Daly represents the latest surge of energy that the PGA Tour Champions hopes will add focus to the over-50 set.

On Friday, Mediate started play on the 10th tee and birdied the par-4 16th and 18th.

But today I’m playing against pretty much the other best player in the world of our age.

The assistant professional from Brickyard Crossing was the low club professional, finishing the tournament at 11-under 273, which was good for a T7.

Play was stopped at 8:21 p.m. time with 61 of the 121 players still on the course.

He hacked another ball into the water on his fifth shot and wound up taking a nine on the par 4.
