Medical Marijuana Licenses Include 2 in Westchester, 1 in Orange County

The University of Rochester is expected to be a strong factor in the research portion of the medical marijuana facilities.

The five businesses will set up and operate four dispensaries each throughout New York, for a total of 20 sites statewide, and must have their products ready to sell by early January.

Five organizations were picked today to be manufacture and dispense medical marijuana – including a manufacturing facility in Rochester and two dispensaries in Westchester County.

“I am proud that we are on course to provide certified patients with access to medical marijuana more quickly than any other state in the nation”, said New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker.

Once the five applicants are chosen, the program will be starting next year.

But none of the companies selected are from Western New York.

Bloomfield Industries Inc., which will manufacture the marijuana in Queens and have dispensaries in Nassau, Manhattan, Onondaga and Erie counties.

Monroe County will receive a manufacturing and dispensary facility to be run by Columbia Care.

Etain, LLC- Manufacturing in Warren.

PharmaCann LLC will manufacture in Orange County. Applicants have proposed dispensaries in Colonie, Albany on North Pearl Street, Schenectady or Clifton Park. It will dispense in Albany, Erie, Onandaga and Bronx counties.

Forty-three applications were submitted by the June 5, 2015 deadline to apply for one of the five registered organization registrations.
