Rhode Island has been given the green light for a pilot program to coordinate health care for people enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid. Since its inception, Medicare has almost served over 100 million Americans. Seventy-nine percent of people believe that Medicare immediately should be dropped down to the age of 55. We need to be sure people get the care they need, in the right setting. He stated that Medicaid has affected millions of Americans’ lives, and its continued success will be dependent on it remaining strong and always improving, according to San Jose Mercury News. Medicaid also is an economic driver, especially in rural communities, by supporting employment in the health care sector and beyond. Medicare, Medicaid, and affordable health insurance all work together to eliminate that hard choice.

When the legislation was passed, many thought Medicaid would never last, yet today Medicaid provides comprehensive coverage for 70 million eligible children, pregnant women, low-income adults, and people living with disabilities. A quarter of seniors were estimated to have gone without care because of concerns about medical costs.
