Medvedev and Modi meet on the margins of the summit in Laos
Analysts say that Mr.Modi’s “internationalisation” at the G-20 of Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism, is likely to fuel the war of words between New Delhi and Islamabad, following the spike in violence in the Kashmir Valley after the killing of BurhanWani, a commander of the HizbulMujahideen on July 8. Speaking at 2016 International Media Conference organized by the USA government-funded East-West Centre, Jaishankar said,”At some stage, the differentiation is not gone out on the ground. You can’t have a segmented, differentiated fight against terrorism”. “For us a terrorist is a terrorist”. Pakistan described Wani as a “martyr”. He said the Indian government had been saying: “Let’s work together to get to the bottom of terrorism which is a headache not only for Pakistan, but for India and the world”.

In March this year, China vetoed India’s request to the UN Security Council sanctions committee to include the name of Masood Azhar, the head of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohamed, in its list of terrorists.
Over the past month and a half, there had been “cordial interactions” between Pakistani and Indian border forces.
He also said while India and Pakistan must certainly discuss the entire range of issues, they must keep their focus on economy which he described as a “low-hanging fruit”.
“It is imperative for the future of Asia, and indeed the world, that the two nations approach each other with strategic maturity”.
He also criticized China for opposing India’s bid at becoming more integrated with global governance and its bid for membership in the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG) and also asked China, its support for free access to Sea Lanes of Communication in the South China Sea.
ASEAN and India also supported the early adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism, now under negotiation at the United Nations.
“Recent visits to Indo-China have also underlined the interest of CMLV (Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam) nations in further road connectivity to Vietnam”.
People living in glass houses should not be throwing stones at others, the Indian envoy in Pakistan has said as he described Kashmir as an internal matter of India. He added that the countries need to be mindful of common security challenges and India will organise the 2nd EAS on maritime security and cooperation later this year for this. “This is a region where we have high cultural comfort”.
“We continue to expand and deepen our economic engagements”, Modi said.

“Japan and South Korea, along with Asean, stand out as natural partners in this context”, he added.
