Meeke claims historic Rally Finland win

Breen therefore goes into the final day of Rally Finland with 11.5s in hand as he bids for a first WRC podium.
Ott Tanak was a major threat for Breen in their fight for the third but the Estonian’s chances went up in smoke when he fell into a ditch in the first stage of the day.
“It’s a bit insane to be honest”.
After establishing a solid lead on Friday, Meeke stamped his authority on this eighth round of the season with a stunning display in the legendary Ouninpohja stage on Saturday morning. To win it as we did – incredible. I’ve been enjoying it like a kid.
“This morning I had to take my brain, yesterday morning I left it in the hotel”.
Latvala said he was disappointed with the result. Yesterday was one of the best days I’ve had in a rally auto and today has surpassed that.
“Difficult to even describe today in words, a red letter day in my career”, Breen wrote on his Facebook page.
I’m missing the main man [Gareth Roberts] and I know he’s looking down on this now. Thank you so much everybody.
France’s Sébastien Ogier leads the championship.
Thierry Neuville held off Hyundai i20 team-mate Hayden Paddon to take fourth by 2.3sec, both drivers unhappy with their car’s handling throughout the rally. WRC 2 victor Esapekka Lappi was eighth with Kevin Abbring and Teemu Suninen completing the top 10.

“Even heading to the road section from Ouninpohja yesterday morning, I was confident in my speed but not confident that I could do enough to keep Jari-Matti at bay, because past year when I did Ouninpohja when it was in the opposite direction I did the flawless stage – I thought I did almost the ideal stage – and Jari took 6.8 seconds on me”.
