It’s truly awesome to have picked Corduroy out from a litter when I was nearly seven years old and still have him in my life today. Corduroy, who has big green eyes and a salt and pepper mustache, inherited the title after the death of Tiffany Two in June.

At 26 years and 13 days old, Corduroy, who lives comfortably at his home in Oregon in the North-West of the United States, has officially become the oldest cat in the world.
With Tiffany Two recently passing away at the age of 27 years, 2 months and 20 days, the record is now back in the hands of Corduroy.
For his birthday August. 1, Okura bought him a live white mouse from Petco and says he enjoyed it “right away”. Reed Okura has owned Corduroy since she was 7 years old and he was just a kitten, according to Guinness. The cat had reportedly taken the record from Corduroy last October when she was discovered by Guinness World Records.
The oldest cat that ever lived was Crème Puff, who was born in 1967 and died on August 6, 2005 at 38 years old and 3 days. The cat has some kidney problems but can still hunt on the family property, which spans 160 acres.

Kristen Ott, a Guinness World Records spokeswoman, said that there may still be a cat living somewhere that is older than Corduroy. Let’s hope Corduroy holds the title for as long as he can. However, if another person comes forward with proof of their cat’s age, such as witness statements and recordings throughout the years, that cat will be the next title holder for World’s Oldest Cat. Officials confirmed his age just after his 26th birthday.
