Mega Man Legacy Collection Series History Trailer Released
Most of the artwork can also be seen in books like MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works, but if you don’t own the book (which costs more than Legacy Collection) it’s an awesome bonus.

The first Mega Man game was released in 1987, but only made it to Europe in 1990, and it very much shows in terms of the graphics and the spitefully unfair gameplay.
Capcom knows where its bread is buttered these days. The final four games have their moments, but they’re more slapdash than the first six. While this may seem an odd choice in the modern world of remakes, it’s a solid choice by Capcom to not fiddle with anything and to ensure that the classics stand as they always have. Some people love Mario, some people love Sonic, I was enthralled by the Blue Bomber. Sure, it would have been nice for some of the slowdown that this series is known for was eliminated, as the Dark Master stages in Mega Man 3 are notorious for the sheer amount of framerate drops they feature, but some would argue that Mega Man wouldn’t be Mega Man without this so-called flaw. With many choices of how to experience Mega Man, I would suggest trying to find another option.
Now, let’s move on to the games themselves.
Mega Man Legacy Collection arrives this week, bringing the first six titles in the venerable series to PlayStation 4. You can also customize the look of the games by stretching to widescreen, or playing at the original format with some black or themed borders.
Though there are definitely numerous gamers out there that haven’t experienced the core Mega Man titles before, it seems silly to try and explain the premise of six games that are over two decades old. But I also wonder, does it matter? For one thing, there’s a dedicated button for rapid fire that sends off three shots with superhuman speed. Each of the titles now includes an encyclopedia of each of its characters, showing all of the friends and foes that the iconic robot will face down. Jimenez says, “The new Database feature will allow a player to view a description of all the enemies in the game, which may contain a hint on the best way to defeat that enemy”. Featuring snippets of levels from within the games, these challenges offer up title-specific “remixes”, custom-curated slices of various titles, and more.
The game allows for fans to play in the original modes from the eighties to give the true feel of playing the classic titles. When players unlock the Mega Man 3 and Mega Man 4 challenges you’ll get a Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 2 mashup which jumps players between both games. The collection comes with six games and a bevy of other content. There are also challenges for the veterans, and a quick boss mode for the those who need practice.
While they may not be remastered, the games have been given a bit of an updated, HD look. I wish they would’ve been included in the “Legacy Collection“, but, alas, they are not. Sometimes, several chunks from different games are strung together in a single Challenge to make things extra hard.

You can download the collection for $14.99 and according to a listing on Xbox Live, users will have to spare nearly 400MB of space on their HDD. With such a low price on a full-fledged release of six classic titles and the various throw-ins, it’s clear that Capcom knows they haven’t built in enough to go after the higher ticket. Boxed copies are coming to retail in early 2016. These NES Remix-style gameplay snippets were absolutely wonderful, but Mega Man Legacy Collection finds a way to improve upon this feature in every conceivable way through its Challenge Mode. It has 6 classic Nintendo games and some fun extra modes.
