Megatron retiring from National Football League after nine seasons

Mike Mitchell has had his issues with social media, but when Marvin Jones agreed to a new deal with the Detroit Lions, Mitchell sent a hilarious tweet to the former Bengals WR.

Quinn said the Lions would be shoppers in free agency regardless of Johnson’s decision. To the fans of Detroit and MI. Jones is the man the Lions are bringing in, and his initial comments on replacing Johnson were fairly standard for a player with big shoes to fill.

He was the #2 overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2007 NFL Draft, after receiving extraordinarily high remarks from scouts leading up to the Draft.

Jones is coming off his best season with 65 catches for 816 yards and four touchdowns in a Bengals offense that features No. 1 receiver A.J. Green and one of the NFL’s top tight ends, Tyler Eifert.

Jones, who turns 26 on Saturday, was with the Cincinnati Bengals for four years. Calvin Johnson has retired.

Ngata is 32 years old and has played 10 National Football League seasons for the Baltimore Ravens and Lions.

Unfortunately for Megatron he had to play through seven losing seasons of his nine year career.

Johnson released a statement after the season when it became public knowledge that he was considering retirement and consulted with head coach Jim Caldwell and members of the front office. “I mean, he’s been incredible, and the numbers keep stacking up, and it’s because of the fact that he’s one of those guys that makes plays week-in and week-out, year-in and year-out, and it’s consistent”.

“Not only is he as good as any player I’ve ever seen, but I am convinced that God has not put a finer person on this earth than Calvin Johnson”, Caldwell said.

He declined last season to say if he would restructure his contract, which called for him to count $24 million against the salary cap next season. “I feel like there’s already pieces in place for all of us to come in and capitalize on everything”. He ranked among league leaders last season with 88 receptions for 1,214 yards and nine TDs, playing through lingering injuries as he often did. But it seems Johnson made the decision easier on them.

Even though he turned 30 in September, he didn’t miss a game in the 2015 season.

Sanders and Johnson are simultaneously the most recognizable Lions in franchise history and two of Detroit’s most beloved players.
