“I thought [I had asked] a fair question” about his long history of sexist comments.

“It’s not about me”, she responded.

Kelly also addressed her upcoming contract renegotiation and whether she will choose to stay at FOX News. So the special nearly seems like it will have the feel of a Barbara Walters program. Trump said he does.

Trump has “absolutely” no regrets about the past nine months. “I could have used different language”, Trump said.

Donald Trump did not mince words during his highly-anticipated interview with Fox News host Megyn Kelly Tuesday.

“You’ve been called a lot worse”, Trump said with a smile.

“Well, you said ‘a mistake, ‘” Kelly said. Excuse me.” After a silence, he said the insult was “not the most awful thing.

Kelly said she asked for the interview because she wanted to get her interactions with Trump on a professional footing. It was about the way he has talked about women.

Donald Trump says he doesn’t regret anything about the way he’s run his controversial presidential campaign – after all, it’s gotten him the status of presumptive nominee of the Republican Party – but if he doesn’t end up winning the whole thing is a waste.

Their relationship soured early on as a result of Kelly’s questions as a co-moderator during that first presidential debate, and the candidate and the journalist did not speak for months afterward, instead trading barbs over the airwaves and internet.

He also said that the debate was the first time that he realized he could win. “But I am happy with the outcome. I don’t want that to happen, but I have fans – we have an unbelievable bond”, said Trump, whose supporters attacked Kelly on Twitter. The following day, he went on CNN and appraised her debate performance like this: “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”.
