Mehbooba Mufti asks civil society to help restore peace

“I appeal everyone to help the government to bring back peace and normalcy in the state”, she said in a statement today. I also want to appeal to civil society and the media to help in restoring calm.

The Chief Minister said her Government has a clear vision of how to achieve the goals of political stability, economic self-reliance and social growth in Jammu and Kashmir and, despite enormous challenges, it is working towards seeking permanent and dignified resolution of the multiple problems confronting Jammu and Kashmir and its people.

“Incidents where security personnel have acted harshly and have used excess force, will be investigated”, the CM said.

Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting on the situation in Kashmir Valley which has witnessed violent protests in the wake of the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani, leaving 24 dead and over 300 injured.

“Despite all our efforts, it’s sad that we could not save the life of youths”.

I would urge parents to guide their kids not to join such agitation.

Terming BJP’s “experiment” of forming a government with PDP as having “failed”, VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain accused chief minister Mehbooba Mufti of “acting as a spokesperson of terrorists and separatists” and said both she and former chief minister Omar Adbullah be arrested for their pro-terrorists speeches.

Most of the protesters who died in firing by security forces have been young males who clashed with police and paramilitary personnel.
