Is Mel C potentially threatening to resort to legal action to prevent the Spice Girls / GEM reunion?

As their twentieth anniversary approaches, prospects of a Spice Girls reunion seem to be in turmoil, with new reports suggesting that Mel C is the main obstacle to a comeback.
The Sun are reporting that Mel C has threatened to sue if the girls tour under the “Spice Girls” name, apparently claiming she is “concerned that any incarnation of the Spice Girls without her involvement would be damaging to the group’s legacy and future finances”.
“There was talk of using the nickname GEM but they’ve decided against that because the strength is through the Spice brand”.
Clearing up any name rumours, she added: “GEM is the name of our website – we’re always going to be Spice Girls”.
“The girls are pressing ahead with their reunion plans as they were before”.
Despite Posh Spice giving her former bandmates her blessing, Mel C is said to be unhappy.
Spice Girls fans everywhere were given hope of a much longed-for reunion back in July when Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner teased their upcoming “party”. ‘She’s been really lovely and supportive, which has been a relief to them’.
Mel also regularly posts cute memories of her Spice days on social media, having shared a snap of the last time all five of them performed together at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony just a few days ago.
Mel – who was known as Scary Spice in the group – embraced her daughter’s decision to dress as her fellow former Spice Girl as the “Wannabe” hitmakers celebrate their 20th anniversary.
Captioning the post, Mel wrote: “Today my daughter Madison wanted to be ginger spice, so I said yes of course you go girl!”
