Melissa Benoist joins Superman family as ‘Supergirl’ on CBS

The premiere episode revealed that when Kara crash-landed on earth from the Phantom Zone, it also brought along a Kryptonian maximum security prison full of criminals who are now looking to seek vengeance on Supergirl, as her mother was the one who imprisoned them. She knows where she is from, and the show will utilize flashbacks to her time in space. He told Entertainment Weekly, “Her name is Astra”.

Cat gives her a cold look. “We didn’t”, she responds. Kara is supposed to be fun, lovable, quirky, and you get that right from the beginning. “There’s always a bit of mystery around that, her origins and just what her capacities are”. Kara was adopted by the Danvers family and now finds herself in National City working for the most powerful woman in news.

Benoist, who pretty much went to waste on Glee, isn’t the kind of commanding force of nature you might have envisioned in the role, but she grows on you.

At this point, Cat delivers her best death stare: “I’m the hero!” she says. “I stuck a label on the side of this girl”. When you account for key women demographics, SUPERGIRL averaged 2.0/07 in women 18-34, 3.0/09 in women 18-49 and 3.8/10 in women 25-54. And powerful and rich and hot and smart. “So if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent – isn’t the problem you?” It basically fits perfectly with the one-two punch that has already been established with “Arrow” and “The Flash”, two other superhero shows with Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg as executive producers.

Benoist plays the bright-eyed assistant, eager to please and eager to break out of her shell. Despite her character’s lack of superhuman strength, the 50-year-old actress believes that she’s stronger than what is expected of her.

“The second that I saw in my email inbox the title “Supergirl”, I just knew automatically that it was something important and it was something exciting and rare and that I wanted to be a part of it”, she said. Lots of girl power + the twist at the end with Evil Auntie! When Benoist was asked to discuss these comments on CBS’This Morning, the 27-year-old apparently felt awkward about the weird situation, but instead of responding negatively she said that at least Bush was “excited to watch show”.
