Melissa Benoist’s ‘Supergirl’ Gets Full Season Schedule Order from CBS

Though that number is two episodes shy of the traditional full season, the term itself seems to be in flux this year with “full season” orders varying from as short as eighteen episodes to the more standard twenty-two.

Supergirl is averaging 11.24 million viewers and a 2.8 18-49 rating. According to Bleeding Cool News, CBS believes that a crossover with “The Flash” could give “Supergirl” a ratings boost. More than likely, since Supergirl started in late October, they didn’t want to add on two more episodes and keep the show going deep into the summer. The network has handed out a full-season order to the DC series starring Melissa Benoist, TVWise has learned. Right now, we’re really happy with what we call the “Arrow”-verse, which is “Arrow, ‘ “The Flash” and ‘Legends.’ And we’re just trying to make ‘Supergirl” the best show it can be on its own”. And what are you hoping to see in the rest of season 1? Still, the move is a vote of confidence for the new drama series. CBS has now given additional episode orders to all four of its new fall series – SUPERGIRL, LIFE IN PIECES, LIMITLESS and CODE BLACK.

Despite comparison from the audience, “Supergirl” and “Jessica Jones” managed to achieve a level of success, which could lead for an array of female-led superhero series and films. Despite both shows being on separate networks, CBS does have half a stake of CW, making it an easy task for them to bring characters from one show to the other. However, it will only happen if Supergirl’s ratings continue to be high so it will have the “back 9” episodes that were optioned when the 13-episode season was greenlit.

“The Flash” and “Supergirl” may do a crossover episode. It made it that much more peculiar when Supergirl debuted as a superhero show in a vacuum, shooting down early rumors of CW crossovers leading into its pilot. Meanwhile, “The Flash” airs Tuesdays on The CW.
