Melissa McCarthy makes triumphant SNL return as ‘the new’ Sean Spicer

Hosted by Alec Baldwin – the show’s resident impersonator of President Donald Trump – the show took on both White House Press Secretary Spicer, played by Melissa McCarthy in a repeat of her performance the previous week, and Conway, the controversial Counselor to the President. I have a feeling that SNL doesn’t mean it to be cute. Then he ran down a list of terrorist attacks “you never even write about”. The Slaughter at Fraggle Rock. “And I will remain calm as long as you sons of …” “I’m not going to do that, because that is the old Spicey”.

McCarthy-as-Spicer struggled to keep his composure during a question and answer session that covered the gamut of recent news surrounding the Trump administration.

“I’ve been told to cut down on my gum chewing”, McCarthy said, pulling out a big stick of gum and chomping down on it.

In the skit, McCarthy also chewed a cartoonishly fat wad of gum, made fun of New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush’s hat, and mangled the names of a foreign leader, country, and city. She addressed topics like the Muslim travel ban and Nordstrom’s decision to stop selling Ivanka Trump’s clothing line.

Melissa McCarthy is back at it again.

With real-world confusion over the Trump administration’s next step after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a stay on his temporary refugee and travel ban from seven Muslim-majority countries, the president found the venerable courtroom show a flawless venue for his grievance, as he is a “TV president”.

“We know she’s ok because she’s blonde”. The TSA doll pats Moana down. Not because the sketch blasted Spicer so handily, but, according to Politico, Trump was mostly mad because Spicer was lampooned by a woman.
