The Employer, introduced by Common 480 spots, in 3, needed to overcome withering opinions – its approval score on Rotten Tomatoes was merely 18 percent – along with a C+ ranking from Cinemascore. But, McCarthy could nevertheless claim her third No. 1 one opening, following 2013’s Identity Thief and last summer’s Spy. “We love the fact people appreciate her comedies, that Melissa is a genuine movie star and she starts at number one”, said the domestic circulation leader of Universal, Nicholas Carpou.

Despite McCarthy’s popularity, “The Boss” could have trouble showing endurance. The original “God’s Not Dead” opened with $9 million and ended up with $60.7 million in sales – a profitable result for a picture that cost just $2 million to make.Sony’s “Miracles From Heaven” rounded out the top five, grossing $7.5 million and pushing its total to $46.8 million.

“She has a hot streak going like no other comedian, male or female, working today”, he said. That movie banked $23.2 million on its third weekend – another steep 55 percent decline from the previous frame. “She is their heir apparent”. Then on Saturday, “Batman v Superman” rebounded by taking in .6 million over the comedy’s $10 million. The opening weekend crowd drew heavily from the gamer set, with 72% of ticket buyers saying they played first-person shooter video games such as “Call of Duty” and “Halo”. In its sixth weekend, the animated film featuring the voices of Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin has earned a total domestic haul of $296 million.

Step aside, Batman and Superman. It’s not considered likely to reach the $1 billion mark, but the odds are good that the film will cross $800 million around midweek, and that by the end of next weekend it will be right around the $821 million at the global box office that Spider-Man made.
