Members of Congress Will Be Reportedly Getting Notes from Clinton’s FBI Interview

Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, requested that FBI Director James Comey release the entire “investigative file” on the agency’s year-long probe into Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

In the announcement, Comey said Clinton and her staff acted “recklessly”, yet it wasn’t enough to justify criminal charges.

Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican, applauded the FBI’s decision, citing Clinton’s reputation for not being truthful. But members of Congress now will have access to notes taken during the interview. According to Politico, the Obama administration had been unsure of how to respond to the demands, due to the sensitive nature of the information involved.

Members of Congress will receive notes from the “interview” as early as Monday, CNN reported.

The Democratic presidential nominee met with the FBI for a voluntary interview in early July, which was part of the federal investigation into her use of private email servers.

Comey called Clinton’s handling of classified information “extremely careless” when he announced the Federal Bureau of Investigation would not be pursuing criminal charges against her. Comey stopped short of saying Clinton lied about mishandling classified intel, but noted that she wasn’t under oath at the time.
