Memorial Day events to honor Kansas veterans

There are several Memorial Day events planned across Middle Tennessee to honor those who have fallen while serving the United States.

When the task is completed, the veterans will muster at the El Zarape restaurant for a traditional menudo breakfast.

The cemetery hosts an annual Memorial Day service on Monday to honor the ultimate sacrifices given by the veterans buried there.

Line up at 11 a.m.at the former Jr. high school on Main Street. At 9:45 a.m., the veterans proceed to the war memorial on Broadway Street in Graniteville.

After the ceremonies at the cemeteries are finished, everyone is invited to gather at the All Vets Club for a light, freewill lunch to honor the Jamestown Drum & Bugle Corps and thank them for 55 years of service to the community.

The program is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday (May 29) at the Pavilion in Pioneer Park. At 9:15 a.m., the Legion wth the American Legion and local veterans will assemble at the World Word I Memorial in Wood Park.

At the end of the ceremony, veterans gave each student an American flag.

The ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. and includes an address by Dr. George Komaridis, owner and director ASC Psychological Clinic.

“We’ve got a tradition out at the post, of sponsoring different events on Memorial Day, mainly putting the flags on the graves of the deceased veterans”, Bill Youngern, a member of the Legion Post and a U.S. Army veteran, said.

MSU Brass and Sass will also perform.

– Memorial Day Remembrance radio show about Memorial Day and veterans benefits with Scott Barter of WLIP Radio will take place from 10 a.m.to 12 noon.
