The Grizzlies’ offer consists of the full five years and $153 million.

According to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Parsons and the Grizzlies have agreed on a four-year, $94.8 million deal. That made his decision even easier and should reinvigorate the franchise. The Grizzlies now have three max players on their roster if Conley agrees to the deal. They have nobody like me, and their veteran, experienced players are a ideal fit with me.

Parsons committed to the Grizzlies immediately after a Friday meeting at agent Dan Fegan’s home in Beverly Hills, California. Still, there was a brief moment of anxiety.

Conley does have familiarity in Memphis in that he and a core group, which include Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Tony Allen, have advanced to the playoffs every year since the 2010-2011 season. He missed four or fewer games in five of his first six National Basketball Association seasons but has sat out at least nine contests in each of his past three campaigns.

That being said though, the Dallas Mavericks are seemingly the favourites to sign Conley, and Mavs owner Mark Cuban has been desperate to sign a big name to his team after losing out on DeAndre Jordan previous year. With all these competitive teams, will the same routine for the Memphis Grizzlies be enough for a playoff spot?

Miami’s Hassan Whiteside is expected to be among the top targets for Dallas, along with Memphis point guard Mike Conley. He’s incredibly adept on both sides of the ball, whether he’s playing lock down defense or slipping through the cracks to find the rim.

All hail the Golden Age of point guards (and by extension, the Golden Age of point guard paydays).

If Conley wants money, the Grizzlies can give it to him.

Parsons has an advocate in Memphis in recently hired assistant coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who formed a close relationship with Parsons during their time together with the Houston Rockets.
