Auburn outscored Memphis by 14 points in the final quarter and held the Tigers to 206 total yards in a 31-10 victory. Ball had two of Memphis’ three interceptions in the first half.
Memphis interim coach Darrell Dickey was asked about the situation and said he’d only heard a little about what had happened.
“He just did a very good job”. Like most fans, the Gastons are happy with the loss, but wish the Auburn Tigers had been in a better bowl game.
Game MVP Jovon Robinson, who is from Memphis, effectively put the game away with a 4-yard touchdown set up by Davis’ 56-yard return down to the 6 early in the fourth. Ultimately, this game was decided on Auburn’s ability to control the clock and score on the ground.

“It was a lot on us, but you’ve got to give Auburn credit”, Lynch said. “Our defense was outstanding, our offense in the second half really took the game over, but I’m extremely happy for our seniors to get these guys out with a bowl win”.
