Men’s basketball: USA roar back from slow start to thrash Venezuela

For the first quarter anyway. There will likely be tougher games ahead, but they haven’t had one yet.

They can beat us. “So, it’s fun getting ready to face him”. Is it wrong to say that I want Jordan Brand to be Team USA’s apparel provider? He adds that some of Australia’s players have indeed played in the National Basketball Association, with some of them playing in the same team with the players in team USA.

“Carmelo’s pretty old, you know”, Jordan noted. Australia has five National Basketball Association players: Andrew Bogut (Dallas), Patty Mills (San Antonio), Matthew Dellavedova (Milwaukee), Aron Baynes (Detroit) and Joe Ingles (Utah) on its roster. He and forward Jimmy Butler makes things hard for opponents out on the perimeter.

Team USA and Australia will tangle on Wednesday at 5 PM CST. But while there is plenty of familiarity between the two sides, there’s something decidedly different about one: Australia is 2-0 in Olympic group play, starting impressively with wins over France and Serbia. Both teams will enter the game 2-0. Serbia, Croatia and Lithuania could be too young.

Japan’s Kohei Uchimura is the defending Olympic champion in the men’s all-around and a favorite to add to his collection of six Olympic medals.

“Rightfully so”, Bogut said.

In the gold medal count, the U.S leads with nine gold, and China with eight.

All signs point to another gold medal for the American men’s basketball team. Of course, Australia has made the quarterfinals the last two olympic appearances, so a solid start is nothing new for this country.

They soon rose to the occasion with a stellar display in the swimming pool.

“It’s not like we weren’t ready to play”, Krzyzewski said.

But like clockwork, the Americans turned on the jets in the second quarter, going on a blistering 30-8 run to take a 48-26 lead into halftime.

Durant played very well in this game as expected and ended the game with a team leading 25 points scored. Klay Thompson in particular had a rough night, but at the end of the day the U.S. was just too deep and talented for Venezuela to pose any real threat. After that first quarter, that died down a bit. “They like to make the game ugly so we’ve got to be prepared for that”. They just showed in their first two games that they are still a superior team even without LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook on their side.
