There are now 21 total cases of locally transmitted Zika within a one-square-mile (2.6-sq-km) area in Miami-Dade County.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending pregnant women avoid travel to the Wynwood neighborhood near Miami, Florida. It is meant to trigger an immune response that would protect against the mosquito-borne virus, according to a statement from the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). One study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in July estimated that from 1 percent to 13.2 percent of babies born to mothers with a Zika infection in the first trimester of pregnancy will develop microcephaly.
The confirmed case was contracted outside of The Bahamas and involved an adult, Bahamian male who recently traveled to Jamaica.
Last week, Menendez joined Senate Democrats including New Jersey Sen.
Federal health officials have said repeatedly that they expect to see Zika infections in the United States this summer, particularly in hot, humid states like Florida, Louisiana and Texas.

Clinton made her remarks after touring the Borinquen Health Center in Wynwood, the gentrifying Miami neighborhood in which Florida health officials have reported the Zika cases.
