Mercedes-AMG GT C roadster teased ahead of Paris debut
Mercedes-AMG is now up to the regular shenanigans – teasing us to the GT C Roadster, which was announced back in July through a company roadmap of upcoming products. While we do not see the face of the vehicle, the side gives us an understanding of what the auto will look like with the top down.

The video and photographs taken of a heavily disguised vehicle in testing suggest that the GT C Roadster will have a fabric roof, rather than the folding hard-tops fitted to the SLC and SL models. We’ve tinkered with the brightness and contrast in the screenshot below to give us a better view of the vehicle.
Given the competition – the GT Roadster is aimed directly at Porsche’s venerable 911 Cabriolet – the Mercedes team has a tough challenge ahead. This choice would have been made in order to avoid the GT C from becoming too heavy.

Rumoured to be christened as the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster, the supercar is likely to draw it power from the same four-litre V8 twin-turbo petrol engine used in the AMG GT S coupe. Despite that, performance to 100km/h shouldn’t be off by more than 0.1 of a second. The standard GT and GT S coupes don’t have this but the meaner GT R Coupe features a similar opening in the rear bumper. Meanwhile, the GT S is able to blow past the 100km/h mark in 3.8 seconds on its way to a v-max of 310km/h.
