Mercedes-Benz acquires naming rights to new Falcons stadium, report says
Mercedes-Benz is reportedly expected to sign the contract Friday and make a formal announcement Monday.

The deal would have Mercedes-Benz playing both sides of the NFL’s NFC South division’s fiercest rivalry.
The Falcons declined to comment this morning on a report that Mercedes-Benz will acquire the naming rights to the team’s new stadium in downtown Atlanta.
The Falcons’ new stadium is under construction and set to feature an angular design and expandable seating that could accommodate as many as 83,000 people.
According to Muret, the Falcons had been looking for a 30-year arrangement with an annual value in excess of $15 million for their $1.5 billion venue. It will also be home to Atlanta’s new pro soccer team.
That means the old archrivals could play in stadiums with the same name. It will be the second NFL stadium for which the company will hold naming rights.
It’s strategically timed, too, considering Mercedes moved its United States’ headquarters to Atlanta earlier this year and is doubling up with a new automotive facility in 2017, the same year the Falcons’ new stadium expects to open.
