Unveiled in April at the New York Motor Show, the GLE Class has been reworked to look much sharper than before.
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLE sports a larger media display partially integrated into the instrument panel, centre and outer air vents framed by silver shadow surrounds, and the centre console with the COMAND controller with the touchpad among several other features.
“We have been very busy this year and the GLE is our 13th launch”. The newly appointed MD & CEO for Mercedes -Benz India, Roland Folger, told Business Today: “The all new GLE-Class is our answer to the most aspirational SUV in the market”.
Playing successor to the ML-Class, the GLE comes across as a major product in the company’s portfolio. With its sporty and serene appearance, clear and sensuous design idiom combined with typical attributes of a modern off-roader; the GLE will create new segment benchmark.
“This gives us a strong competitive advantage, resulting in our SUV segment to grow the fastest in the entire portfolio, by 70% in the January-September period”, said Folger. The addition of the versatile GLE comes at the right time and will add to our brand’s winning SUV portfolio. The rear end gets new LED taillights and a rectangular twin-pipe exhaust system finished in chrome.
Standard features on the GLE include Dynamic Select drive mode selection, six airbags, 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, Downhill Speed Regulation system to regulate speeds between 2kph and 18kph, Crosswind Assist system that uses specific wheel braking to keep the auto on course during strong cross winds and climate control (dual-zone for the 250d and three-zone for the 350d).
