Mercedes previews GLC Coupe with new sketch

The GLC Coupe has LED taillights, and LED headlights are optional. The GLC 350e Coupe is expected to see the light of day after the new GLC Coupe is unveiled.

If there is it would seemingly be unfair to single out the GLC Coupe – revealed in NY after a former appearance as a thinly veiled concept – for particular criticism, given Mercedes is simply catering to apparently insatiable demand for such things. We can also expect the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe with its 3.0 turbo V6 to come to the party at a later date and the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 Coupe with the known 4.0 biturbo V8 is also scheduled – most likely coming sometimes next year. You could, of course, save a bunch of cash by just starting with a auto with normal ride height and not have to pay extra for the “convenience” of being able lower it to heave your bags into the boot.

They have teased a sketch of the vehicle and by the looks of it, the GLC Coupe might have one of the best designs in Mercedes’ stable.

Underneath the swept-back skin lies the same tried-and-true powertrains purloined from the regular GLC. Another possible powertrain for the coupe would be the standard GLC’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 241 horsepower. Both cars feature a nine-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. The GLC43 Coupe is clearly the quicker of the two. Then, it will have powerful variants like the AMG version with 4.0-litre turbo engine for those who crave for gas guzzlers. The only performance figures provided is a sub five-second sprint to 60 miles per hour.

Extra dynamic character over the regular GLC also stems from a faster steering ratio – 15.1:1 rather than 16.1:1 – and further focus on handling and body control in the suspension settings.

The 2017 GLC Coupe is the latest in a long line of vehicles fitted with the “coupe” moniker despite the fact that they are all relatively large people-carriers with four doors.
