Merkel Seeks Help From United States, Russian Federation to Cope With Migrant Crisis

EU leaders will discuss how to tighten the control of European borders.

It is completely astounding that Croatia should cite security and the migrant crisis as the reasons for its decision since our country is facing the same crisis and the Serbian government has had no intention of closing borders, blocking traffic or halting the flow of goods and services due to this and violating the fundamental principles of the free European market, Ljajic said.

On September 9 the commission presented a second package of measures to respond to the refugee crisis, including an emergency relocation proposal for another 120,000 refugees from Greece, Hungary and Italy to other European Union member states.

“Under the terms of the plan, countries could postpone taking up to 30% of their required total for up to a year if they had an emergency that prevented them from doing so”, the Washington Post reported.

Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico said he was going to file an appeal with the EU’s top court rather than accept the “diktat” from Brussels.

It was a yet another sign of the deeper challenges facing the 28-nation bloc amid the largest mass movement of people on the continent since World War II. Europe has also struggled to keep a united front against Russian Federation in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

But there was still political fallout that threatened to spoil the mood at the dinner meeting.

[Looming threat for those on the road: winter].

In Germany, by far the most popular destination, the head of domestic intelligence said there was a big worry that radical Islamists living in the country could try to recruit young refugees “who could be easy prey”.

Even Tusk, a former Polish premier, said without naming Merkel that most refugees “feel invited to Europe“.

But given some of the sentiment against the quotas – and the lack of an enforcement mechanism – it’s unclear just how the European Union will handle those who balk at the incoming refugees.

European leaders also hope that the promise of relocation will streamline and hasten the registration, fingerprinting, and asylum-screening process in these entry points to the continent.

As part of a strategy to cooperate with non-EU member states in tackling the refugee crisis, Turkish president Recep Tayip Erdogan is to travel to Brussels for talks on October 5th, with a meeting of Western Balkan countries scheduled a few days later. “It can not be the end of the story, however”.

“Tonight we have a common understanding that we can not continue like we did before”, Tusk told a press conference.

There is no age limit for the asylum-seekers at the hostels, although unaccompanied minors aren’t permitted.

Over the past year Germany has received hundreds of thousands of Syrians, Iraqis and others fleeing war and poverty.

[The roots of European Union dissent over the asylum seekers].

“A first step has been taken, but we are still far from where we should be”.

More than 430,000 migrants have come to Europe by sea so far this year, double the number that arrived during all of 2014, according to the global Organization for Migration. Government officials select the asylum-seekers for the hostels.

“Very soon we will see that the emperor has no clothes”, Czech Interior Minister Milan Chovanec said on Twitter.

Nearly 1,300 people will be sent to Hungary, where Prime Minister Viktor Orban has crusaded against the mostly Muslim asylum-seekers, saying they are on a campaign to de-Christianize Europe.

A one-day record of more than 10,000 unauthorized border crossings were registered in Hungary yesterday, deputy spokesperson of the Hungarian Police said this morning on state-owned all news channel M1.
