As Hillary Clinton becomes the first woman to be nominated for president by a major USA political party, she has revealed perhaps the best-known weapon in her arsenal.

Actress Meryl Streep expressed her support for Hillary Clinton on the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

“What does it take to be the first female anything?“.

Meryl opted for an American flag print dress as she spoke to the passionate crowd in the auditorium, saying of Hillary: “Where does she get her grit and her grace?”

Streep went on to compare Clinton to other notable women that made history as the “first” in their fields.

Former President Bill Clinton portrayed his wife Hillary on Tuesday as a force for change and a longtime fighter for social justice as he made a case for her historic 2016 bid for the White House at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. And she left the stage with the final notion that on the day Clinton takes office, she will be the first female president to serve with the grit and grace of those women before her.

“Where do any of our female firsts, our path breakers, find that strength?” she continued.

“Tonight, more than 200 years after Deborah Samson fought and almost a hundred years after women got the vote, you people have made history”, she said.

Clinton, who secured enough delegates earlier in the day to officially be named the Democratic nominee, became the first woman to ever lead a major political party into the general election.
