Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez declared fit to face Chelsea this weekend

Ozil has been Wenger’s player of the season so far but he was sidelined for last weekend’s draw at Stoke.

With Ozil and Sanchez back in contention for the Chelsea clash, the availability of the two former La Liga stars will give the Gunners manager more options while selecting his starting XI.

“I think he will make it for selection”, said Wenger of the 12-goal striker. He said Francis Coquelin is back in training ahead of schedule this week after suffering a knee injury in November but still needs time to regain match fitness, while Danny Welbeck will be back in training next week.

He has had a series of setbacks in his increasingly complicated recovery and, despite taking part in full training last Saturday, was deemed to be only 95 per cent fit by Wenger.

Some have suggested that the Gunners need more signings than him though, with injury problems having robbed Arsene Wenger of numerous players already this season.

“Welbeck will be in full training next week”. So those are positive news. Tomas Rosicky will play on Friday night for the U21s.

“The doubt is he has been out for a long time”, he added. The intensity of a big game you can never replicate in training, but you can make the risk minimal.

‘I am cautious with him (Sanchez) because we can not afford a setback now.

“We don’t want to take this risk”. We are going into a very important period so it is good to have key players available.

New signing Mohamed Elneny was among the other players to be snapped in training on Thursday at London Colney.
